2002 Portsmouth Festivities
As part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, the City Museum in collaboration with Tate Britain exhibited as part of the Festivities works by JMW Turner inspired by his visits to Portsmouth for royal occasions, and HM the Queen was entertained by Festivities musicians at Gunwharf Quays. ITN Royal Correspondent, Nicholas Owen shared his experiences about reporting the royals with an audience at the Royal Naval Museum .
Former Cabinet Minister and author Tony Benn also visited the Festivities in 2002 as did Poet Laureate Andrew Motion who lent a hand in poetry workshops at St Luke’s School in Portsmouth .
