2001 Portsmouth Festivities

Our series of classical concerts in 2001 included Young Musician of the Year 2000, cellist Guy Johnston performing Mozart’s glorious Mass in C Minor with the London Mozart Players, and also The Contempo Quartet performing a concert of Haydn, Brahms and Beethoven in the intimate setting of St Ann ’s church in the Naval Dockyard.

Continuing our theme of learning more about Portsmouth , historian, author and expert on the British monarchy, David Starkey gave a fascinating lecture about the defensive importance of the city throughout history. Local author Graham Hurley helped us to trace Portsmouth ’s past in a series of specially commissioned monologues following one family throughout several centuries in Portsmouth Experiences.
