An Audience with General Sir Mike Jackson
Friday 27June - 7.30 pm
Action Stations, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard
General Sir Mike Jackson has served in Northern Ireland, Kosovo and Iraq
with the British Army. In 2003, as Chief of the General Staff, Jackson
ordered an inquiry into pictures printed in the Daily Mirror appearing
to show British troops abusing Iraqi prisoners. The pictures were found
to be a hoax and the paper's editor, Piers Morgan, resigned over the issue.
General Jackson is well known for his efforts to improve the conditions
and treatment of the armed forces.
The popular former Chief of the General Staff, General Sir Mike Jackson will talk about his career including the 2003 Iraq War and what he thinks is wrong with the way our soldiers are treated.
