Booker prize winning author Dame Beryl Bainbridge whose novels include
An Awfully Big Adventure, Every Man for Himself and According to Queeney
- and Francis King – hailed by The Daily Telegraph as ’a novelist
of discernment’ – will talk about their work in this special
event. To mark the centenary year of the birth in Portsmouth of Olivia
Manning, writer of Fortunes of War, currently in a new dramatisation on
BBC Radio 4, these two highly regarded writers who knew her well, will
also talk about her life and work and share their memories of her.
