Portsmouth Festivities

Round Britain Powerboat Race

Saturday 21 June - 9.30 am

Southsea Castle

The Greatest Offshore Powerboat Race is coming to Portsmouth! The “Everest” of all powerboat races, it is the longest and toughest event for powerboat drivers anywhere in the world and is only the third time in the 100 year history of offshore powerboat racing in this country that this race has been held.

Celebrate the opening of the Portsmouth Festivities by joining the crowds and soaking up the atmosphere as you watch the powerboats set off on their unique ten-day challenge. The start will take place in 2 stages: first at 9.30 am and then at 10.00 am – watch them blast out of the Solent towards Bembridge for the first leg of over 170 miles to Plymouth.

All the powerboats will be moored at Gunwharf Quays from Wednesday 18 June to get ready for their gruelling task ahead so you will be able to view all the boats from The Waterfront and hear those engines roar. The Race will also finish at Southsea Castle on Monday 30 June (eta 2 pm) and the boats will be moored at Gunwharf Quays until 1 July.
